About This Product

■Summary

The MECOHC seal model is an air-free seal for screw conveyors. The HC model is a full-contact, soft-face mechanical shaft seal that uses an elastomer drive to rotate a bearing-grade polymer seal face against a fixed stainless steel stationary surface. Various seal assemblies are sized for equipment according to Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) standards and metric equivalents.

■Characteristics of HC seal

・MECOHC seals are the best choice for screw conveyor seals when you do not want to use air purge. ・The HC model is a full contact soft-face mechanical shaft seal that uses a rubber elastomer to drive a special resin rotor that rotates against a fixed stainless steel sliding surface. ・The size of the seal body is compatible with C.E.M.A. standard bearings. -HC Seal offers the superior performance, durability and quality of workmanship that characterizes a variety of MECO's other highly acclaimed models.

■Ideal application for HC seals

MECOHC seals are ideal for sealing screw conveyors, small blenders, bucket elevators, or similar rotating equipment primarily used to transport powders. The main body of the HC seal is integrated and can be used on parallel, diagonal, or vertical shafts.

■The working principle of HC seal

HC seal can be replaced with general gland packing. Constructed with a strong metal or FDA nylon housing that will not crush the flange bearing if over-tightened. Two replaceable stainless steel fixed sealing surfaces are attached to the housing. Inside is a rotating seal assembly consisting of a replaceable rotor and drive elastomer, which grips and rotates with the shaft. The low-friction rotating seal face is perpendicular to the shaft and in full contact with the stationary seal face. Around the drive elastomer there is a stainless steel hose clamp instead of air, allowing fine adjustment of the sealing surface pressure. Adjustments can be made according to conditions, but periodic retightening and checking are required.
