Organic peroxide Polymerization initiator hydroperoxide Perbutyl H-69
NOF Corporation

About This Product

Organic peroxides are generally considered derivatives of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). In other words, it is a compound in which the hydrogen atom of H-O-O-H is replaced with an organic atomic group, and there are various peroxides that have different thermal decomposition characteristics by changing the organic atomic group. The chemical characteristics of organic peroxides are due to -O-O- bonds. Because it has -O-O- bonds with relatively low bond energy in its molecules, it decomposes thermally at relatively low temperatures or reacts with reducing substances to easily generate free radicals. I will. The properties of the generated free radicals include addition reactions to unsaturated double bonds and abstraction reactions of hydrogen, etc.

■Features

It is the most water-soluble organic peroxide. Although it has a high decomposition temperature and is relatively stable against heat, it easily undergoes a redox reaction when it comes into contact with a reducing agent such as ferrous sulfate, and can generate radicals even at low temperatures. Utilizing this redox reaction property, it is used as an initiator for emulsion polymerization of SBR and ABS resins.
