A2017, also known as duralumin, is an aluminum alloy classified as 2000 series (Cu-Mg series). 2000 series aluminum alloys have copper and magnesium added to aluminum as the main component, and strong aluminum alloys such as 2000 series and 7000 series have high strength due to their high copper content. I am.
Although its greatest strength is its high strength, its corrosion resistance and stress corrosion cracking resistance may not be acceptable depending on the usage environment. We recommend A2017 in environments where strength is desired but not corrosion resistance, and other aluminum alloys such as A5052 and A6061 when corrosion resistance is desired but a certain level of strength is required.
It is called duralumin and is a heat-treated alloy, so it is more expensive than A5052, but we stock and sell plates up to 150mm thick, which is called extra-thick plate. Main applications include general mechanical parts, various structural materials, automobile parts, aircraft parts, hydraulic parts, etc.
■About features/processing
Regarding the machinability of A2017, the fact that it is strong and easy to warp is often cited as a point of caution. If you are reluctant to process duralumin and are having trouble, we can handle everything from cutting to machining.
We have many sizes of A2017 materials called thick plates and extra-thick plates with a thickness of 3 mm or more. We have a wide range of products in stock, ranging from 3 to 150 mm thick (products of UACJ Corporation), and can be sold in various pieces rather than standard length products.
For cutting, we can of course use normal cutting, but if you don't require more precision than a milling machine, we can use our precision cutting (M-cut+) to suit your needs, regardless of size. Regarding processing, milling such as 2-sided milling, 4-sided milling, and 6-sided milling can be used for small-sized items, several items, and milling of over 1000 mm. For other processing, we can process and finish rings and discs rather than plates. For cutting, we have a gate-type machining center that allows us to handle everything from large-sized items to small-sized items.
