■Product features
Coin cell retainers are a low cost alternative to regular battery holders. Producing a coin cell retainer without a plastic carrier requires fewer raw materials and manufacturing steps than producing a standard coin cell holder. This allows for a much simplified power management solution, allowing for the production of very light, thin, and cost-effective products. Removing the plastic carrier allows the battery to be mounted directly onto the surface of the PCB, reducing its thickness.
Dual beam contacts create two contacts on one of the two battery terminals. The electrical connection is strong enough that even if the battery moves due to shock or vibration, it will not be damaged. MPD's high quality coin cell retainers are made of nickel-plated phosphor bronze to provide continuous battery contact under dynamic conditions. Phosphor bronze has excellent elasticity, high fatigue and corrosion resistance, a wide temperature range, is non-magnetic (nickel is magnetic), and has excellent solderability.
The coin cell retainer requires a conductive pad placed directly below the battery on the surface of the PC board and a contact made to the terminal on the opposite side of the battery.
