About This Product

Diamond has many unique properties, including being extremely hard, highly thermally conductive, and chemically inert. Additionally, diamond is composed of carbon and is a Low-Z material that is transparent to X-rays. Diamond's high thermal conductivity plays an important role in the white X-ray windows of synchrotron accelerators, which are exposed to high heat loads due to the absorption of low-energy X-rays. With proper cooling, CVD diamond windows can support much higher power levels than materials such as beryllium. Additionally, CVD diamond is a non-toxic material and is therefore safe to use. Additionally, high transmission can be achieved even at low X-ray energies by using a diamond thin film mounted on a circular silicon support plate.
