■Humidity inside equipment filled with SF6 gas
In the medium and high voltage switchgear of power distribution network operators, SF6 gas acts as a highly efficient insulating medium and acts as an arc quencher during the switching process. The reality is often different, as very few devices have completely pure SF6 gas.
Depending on the amount of reactants present, highly toxic decomposition products are produced after the energy input, most frequently due to humidity. In addition, the decomposition products not only strongly attack the surface of the tank, but also gradually reduce the dielectric strength of the insulating materials in the switchgear.
■Gas dehydration inside the equipment
The gas dehydration system, model GAD-2000, is capable of reducing the moisture content of equipment filled with SF6 gas. In this system, the gas is extracted, dried independently, and then returned to the gas chamber and refilled. The dual safety system consisting of the implemented SIL2 safety control and the status query of the gas density monitor enables risk-free and trouble-free operation during switchgear operation.
The gas dehydration system can optionally be equipped with a GSM module that transfers data to the operator's mobile device. For example, sending information about the estimated remaining time of the process and the current humidity in the gas compartment, as well as information about required maintenance work, such as filter replacement.
