Differential pressure flow meters are used in many technical applications. As the primary flow element, orifice plates are the most common method. Orifice plates are also known for their ease of installation and handling. The differential pressure generated by the primary flow element is typically converted by a differential pressure transmitter into an electrical signal proportional to the flow.

■Explanation about orifice plate
The orifice plate is the simplest primary flow element. The bore diameter is calculated to produce the specified differential pressure at full scale. Optimal orifice plates suitable for various fluids are available.
■Explanation about orifice flange
Orifice flanges are used instead of pipe flanges for the installation of orifice plates and flow nozzles. A pressure tapped hole is drilled in the orifice flange. This reduces the effort required to install the orifice and tap the pipe.
■Description of the annular chamber
The annular chamber provides stable measurements under difficult process conditions. It is installed between already installed process flanges. The differential pressure is compensated by the gap between the inside of the pipe and the annular chamber.
