About This Product

■Explanation of thermocouple for surface measurement

WIKA's patented V-PAD® provides precise measurements of piping in combustion furnaces. The name V-PAD® comes from its shape. It is V-shaped and has a structure that allows the tube furnace and thermometer to be welded together. V-PAD®'s flexible parts are mineral insulated cables. It consists of a metal sheath containing inorganic insulation cable strands compressed within a high-density ceramic composition. The internal lead strands are made of thermally conductive material. The outer material of the sheath can be selected according to the application. A bare internal lead wire is welded to one end of the sheathed cable, creating an insulated (ungrounded) or uninsulated (grounded) measurement point. At one end of the shielded cable, the ends of the bare wire leads are connected and sealed using a sealing compound. The ends of the lead strands form a platform for electrical connections. You can connect cables, plug-in connectors or connector sockets.

■Sensor design

For this thermocouple, you can choose between an insulated (non-grounded) or non-insulated (grounded) thermocouple tip. This structure allows the measurement point to be installed as close as possible to the surface of the tube furnace. By welding the V-PAD® to the tube furnace integrally with the thermocouple, the measurement point becomes part of the tube surface and provides accurate measurement results.
