■Product description
Temperature switches are commonly used to limit temperature. It also monitors the temperature of mechanical equipment. For example, turn off the machine if it overheats or turn on the fan to cool the equipment.
■Function
The basic structure of the WIKA TFS35 temperature switch is made of bimetal. Temperature detection is measured by a bimetallic disc, which switches when the set temperature (NST) is reached. Once cooled and the Reset Switching Temperature (RST) is reached, the switch returns to its original state.
The bimetallic disc in the model TFS35 bimetal temperature switch does not require electrical current and therefore eliminates the possibility of arcing. In the case of current-carrying bimetallic discs, there is a risk that the switch will operate prematurely due to high self-heating. The switch reset temperature is typically 15...30K below the switch set temperature.
■Contact design
Model TFS35 bimetallic temperature switch can be supplied in two contact formats. Normally Closed (NC = Normally Closed) opens the circuit and shuts down the machine when the set temperature is reached. Normally open (NO = normally open) closes the circuit when a set temperature is reached, allowing for example to switch on a fan or a warning lamp. In either case, upon cooling below the reset switching temperature, the contacts will return to their original state and the monitored equipment will operate normally again.
