About This Product
■Summary
Currently, bevel gears are processed using specialized gear cutting machines manufactured by Gleason and Klingelnberg, but in recent years, it has become common to process bevel gears with spherical involute tooth profiles using machining centers, which is a novelty for small bevel gear molds and large bevel gears. This is no longer the case. In particular, large bevel gears have no choice but to be processed using machining centers, as dedicated gear cutting machines are not manufactured. With small gears, there is less wear on the tool, allowing finer movement of the tool path, and high-quality tooth surface roughness can be obtained by polishing the mold.
However, in the case of large gears, when an end mill tool is used, scale patterns may appear on the tooth surface after operation due to tool wear and cutting (grinding) conditions, which may not be a problem when visually observed, resulting in micropitting. This may cause this to occur. To avoid this phenomenon, the tooth surface must be ground using a disc-shaped grindstone. In the case of spiral bevel gears, the convex tooth flank can be ground with a disc-shaped grinding wheel with a small diameter (possibly contacting the adjacent tooth), but the concave tooth flank cannot be ground. .
However, in this software, the tooth profile and tooth trace of the large gear are set as straight lines so that the tooth surface can be ground with a disc-shaped grindstone, and the tooth profile of the small gear that meshes with this is determined (tooth surface modification is also possible). Therefore, the time required for tooth surface grinding of large gears can be significantly reduced compared to using end mill-shaped tools (including swarf machining).
In addition, the large gear should have an internal bevel, the small gear should have an offset, the shaft angle should be other than 90°, and the small gear should have a small number of teeth (1 to 5 teeth). This allows you to design gear pairs with large reduction and a high degree of freedom. In other words, this linear bevel gear can be said to be a gear with "diversity in design and processing.
