■Summary

Power skiving, a type of gear cutting method for cylindrical gears (external gears, internal gears), has been patented for 100 years since its patent was granted in 1910, but in recent years, this method has been reviewed and dedicated machines are now available both in Japan and overseas. Power skiving can be performed using a high-performance machining center as long as the tool installation angle (intersection angle, taper angle) and tool tooth profile are determined. Skiving cutter design system is software that can generate the tooth profile of a tool (pinion cutter) from gear specifications and tool mounting angle. Additionally, the generated blade shape can be generated as an approximate involute blade shape.
