About This Product

The latest version of Boothroyd Dewhurst's cost analysis tool, DFM4.0, which is used by 850 manufacturers around the world, has been released.

■Cost estimation for metal extrusion process

The latest version includes the ability to calculate the cost of metal extrusions, a typical manufacturing method for structural parts in the automotive industry. New metal extrusion simulation capabilities allow you to simulate optimal process conditions to produce the most cost-effective extruded parts. (U.S. Patent No. 9,889,481 B1)

■Importing CAD model

The following CAD models can be imported into DFM. Available CAD formats: STL, STEP, IGES

■Custom user data library

Custom user libraries allow you to add manufacturing costs such as profit, SG&A, and transportation costs to the DFMA analysis process. Other updates include new report formats, process/material selection dialogs, and CAD calculator functionality. CAD calculators now make more cost-related information available from 3D models. With this feature, the desired cost of a part can now be analyzed more quickly and easily. A new graphic report feature has been added to facilitate comparative analysis of old and new designs. Parts and assemblies can be compared in terms of manufacturing costs, tooling, tooling, assembly process, and material costs, as well as process time and labor costs.

■Batch printing of multiple reports

You can now print or export multiple reports and graphs at the same time. You can also import CAD models of many parts and their dimensions at the same time.
