Nord-Lock wheel nuts are pre-assembled products with Nord-Lock washers pre-assembled into flange nuts. The wedge locking mechanism of Nord-Lock washers secures the wheels of large vehicles safely, even in environments exposed to severe vibrations.
This wheel nut is designed for flat steel wheels and will not loosen on its own if properly tightened.  

■Fascinating mechanismThe tightening principle of Nord-Lock wheel nuts is the same wedge locking mechanism as Nord-Lock washers. Each nut has a pair of washers with a cam surface on one side and a ribbed surface on the other.
When the wheel nut is tightened, the rib surface with radial fine saw-shaped teeth firmly bites into the fastening surface and the only part that can move is the cam surface, but the wedge locking effect of the cam causes the wheel nut to tighten. You can stop the rotation.
