3DF Zephyr can automatically create a 3D model from a large number of photos taken with a drone, and output orthoimages and point data. Additionally, point cloud data obtained from ground-based laser scanners, surveying instruments, etc. can be imported.
The biggest problem with image measurement using drones is that height information cannot be obtained accurately. Drone photogrammetry is not suitable for structures, slopes, and elevations, and the accuracy in the vertical direction is not very high. For example, if the value calculated from the image for an area of 1000 square meters is inaccurate by 10 cm in height, the error will be 100 cubic meters. If we were to pour concrete (unit price: tens of thousands of yen/cubic meter), there would be a difference of several million yen.
For highly accurate volume calculations, it is necessary to create a single overall model by combining point cloud data obtained with a terrestrial laser scanner and point cloud data obtained from drone photogrammetry. You will need to check that there are no data leaks or shadowy areas before analysis.
Until now, commercially available SfM photo measurement software could not read point cloud data. 3DF Zephyr can import point cloud data from external sources. It can be automatically combined with point cloud data from images to create a single model.
