■“θ/2 method”: A half-angle method

This is the most basic contact angle measurement formula. Assuming that the shape of the water droplet dropped on the sample is a perfect circle, the contact angle can be found from the radius and height of the new circle using the formula θ=2arctan h/r. It can also be calculated by finding the angle of the straight line connecting the left and right end points of the droplet and the vertex with respect to the solid surface, and then multiplying this by 2. Although it is easy to calculate, the contact angle on both sides of the water droplet is the same, so it is not possible to measure the forward and backward contact angle using the tilt method.
