■Summary

The STX-2520 is a high-performance amplifier that combines high count rate and high resolution with the latest ultra-high-speed OpAmp and newly developed analog pulse processing circuit. This makes it possible to fully utilize the high count rate and high resolution inherent to the SDDX ray detector. For line detectors, it is necessary to set the time constant of the amplifier short for high counting rate, and long for high resolution, and it is usually difficult to achieve high counting and high resolution at the same time. Even with a detector with a resolution of 135ev, the resolution deteriorates rapidly to about 190ev in 1 usec. It is recognized that a longer peaking time is required for low energy. These are the stories of old analog amplifiers that do not support digital MCA and pulse reset. Deterioration of resolution cannot be avoided if the 2V to 10V pulse reset processing is not properly processed for digital circuit noise and output signals of about 10mV. ...However, this product has a Peaking Time of 0.55usec and a resolution of 129eV. Looking only at the FWHM value, it seems that the optimal peaking time for this detector is as long as 2.2usec. However, in reality, Peaking Time 1.1usec is the optimal time constant. Mn-Ka has two overlapping peaks: Ka1 (100%) 5.899 and Ka2 5.888 (50%). Although there is a difference of 11eV, it is approximately 1ch on the spectrum. Since the relative intensity is 50%, there are steps on the lower side of the peak. With the combination of analog amplifier and analog MCA, the resolution remains the same even at fast peaking times from low energy to high energy. Since it has a wide dynamic range, the sum peak, which is a problem with digital MCA when used in a fluorescent X-ray analyzer, is so small that it can be almost ignored. Detecting aluminum is difficult to do with conventional digital MCAs, so without calling it a favoritism, it can be said to be a great achievement that shows the performance of this product.
