■Summary
In recent years, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has required all ships operating in emission control areas to use fuel with low sulfur content or install equipment to reduce SOx (sulfur oxide) emissions. . One way to reduce exhaust gas is to install a scrubber system. By cleaning the exhaust gas with a scrubber system, it is possible to reduce SOx emissions to an appropriate value.
The waste produced during cleaning operations is highly corrosive, so there are only a couple of pipe materials that can be used. One is an expensive special grade stainless steel and the other is GRE (Glass Reinforced Epoxy). Lightweight, corrosion-resistant and cost-effective, NOV's Bondstrand GRE piping systems are suitable for acidic wastewater produced by exhaust gas cleaning operations, as well as seawater and freshwater supplies to scrubber systems.
■Nov's Bondstrand GRE piping can also be used for the following purposes:
・Sea water
・C/O loop wash water
・Treated washing water (Sodium Hydroxide)
・Fresh water
