About This Product

■Operating principle of metric tape type liquid level sensor The basic structure of this sensor is a base strip made of SUS material (width 20 mm x thickness 1.0 mm).A thin nichrome resistance wire wound at a pitch of 5 mm is attached to a 2 mm wide gold-plated band at the front center of the base strip. It takes advantage of the fact that the resistance value changes when pressed by external pressure. An insulating film covers both sides (acting as a spacer) and the rear of the front of the base strip, and the resistance wire is wound with an exact 5mm pitch, and the outside is further covered with fluorocarbon film (fluorocarbon film) or Hastelloy foil. Protected. When the liquid in the tank pushes this film, the resistance wire comes into contact with the gold-plated contact point in the center of the base plate, changing the resistance value. When the pressure is removed (the liquid level drops and leaves the tape), the resistance wire returns and separates from the gold-plated strip contact. The lower end of the nichrome resistance wire is welded to the bottom of the base plate. The entire sensor tape is protected by a protective channel. Additionally, this sensor can be used in tanks up to 33m long, and can be installed by hanging it from the top of the tank into the protective tube. The independent high alarm (IHA) can be installed within the same protection tube, simplifying the installation structure on the hull. The resistance value is 1,000Ω per meter of liquid surface, but the exact measurement value is written on the tag for each sensor. The air inside the insulating film that separates the liquid in the tank from the gauge moves as the liquid level moves up and down. In order to balance this moving air pressure, an air buffer is provided inside the sensor header, which then goes through a filter to maintain a balance with the tank pressure. Although the MetriTape sensor is basically a maintenance-free system, we recommend replacing this filter approximately every four years. Also. In case of an emergency, inspection or replacement of the sensor tape can be easily done from the housing on the deck, so there is no need to go inside the tank. Temperature sensors can also be attached to the sensor tape, allowing temperature measurement at up to 3 points.
