■Main features
Due to its low power consumption configuration, the RTC module can independently record time and system abnormalities even when the main MCU is not operating. With a built-in crystal oscillator and, in some products, a temperature-compensated oscillator, the RTC module alone can guarantee and manage highly accurate date and time information. We also have a rich lineup of AEC-Q100/200 compatible products.

RX8901CE RX4901CE RA8000CE RA4000CE RX8804CE RX8900CE RA8804CE RA8900CE RTC module equipped with DTCXO (digital temperature compensated oscillator). Even if the temperature on the customer's board changes, it provides high-precision time information of ±3.4ppm (equivalent to 0.3 seconds per day) as a standalone product.
Tuning fork crystal resonators have the characteristic that their oscillation frequency changes depending on the ambient temperature, as shown on the left in the figure above, and technology to correct this is required to improve clock accuracy. The figure on the right above shows an overview of the frequency accuracy correction method that Epson uses using a DTCXO (digital temperature compensated oscillator).
This is a method of converting ambient temperature information into a digital value at regular intervals, and recalling a correction value appropriate for that temperature from memory to correct the oscillation frequency. There are two main types of specific oscillation frequency correction methods: "capacitive adjustment method" and "logical adjustment method." Epson's RTC module mainly uses a "capacity adjustment method."
