Even if the temperature on the customer's board changes, it provides high-precision time information of ±3.4ppm (equivalent to 0.3 seconds per day) as a standalone product. Tuning fork crystal resonators have the characteristic that their oscillation frequency changes depending on the ambient temperature, as shown on the left in the figure above, and technology to correct this is required to improve clock accuracy. The figure on the right above shows an overview of the frequency accuracy correction method that Epson uses using a DTCXO (digital temperature compensated oscillator). This is a method of converting ambient temperature information into a digital value at regular intervals, and recalling a correction value appropriate for that temperature from memory to correct the oscillation frequency. There are two main types of specific oscillation frequency correction methods: "capacitive adjustment method" and "logical adjustment method."
