■What is Parity Mirror®?"Parity Mirror®" is a plate-shaped imaging optical element that makes an aerial image appear just by placing it on it. By using Parity Mirror®, next-generation imaging technology, "aerial imaging," can be put into practical use. By combining Parity Mirror® with a sensor and display, it is possible to develop a product with an "aerial touch display" that allows you to touch and operate aerial images without physical contact.

■Parity Mirror® creates a new user experienceNo special glasses or large-scale equipment required. Until now, viewing 3D images required wearing wearable devices such as glasses, but the aerial images projected by Parity Mirror® can be observed with the naked eye, expanding the range of applications.

It is possible to display aerial images just by placing the product, so it is possible to display aerial images with a simple product structure.

■How Parity Mirror® worksA typical mirror reflects an image, so what you see is a virtual image. A parity mirror transmits light emitted linearly from a light source through a two-sided corner reflector array, then collects the light rays and projects a real image in the air. Each reflector that makes up the parity mirror's dihedral corner reflector array consists of two perpendicular mirror surfaces at right angles.

Light is reflected twice on two right-angled corners. A two-sided corner reflector array is an array of two vertical mirror surfaces arranged at regular intervals in a plane. This principle allows Parity Mirror® to display images at specific locations in the air.
