About This Product

With extensive chemical knowledge of acrylic water solvents, Scott Bader has developed a wide variety of thickeners (to thicken systems) and rheology modifiers (to modify flow characteristics of dosage forms) for numerous applications. . Our product offering consists of the following technology platforms:

■Reverse emulsionTexipol thickener is an aqueous polymer dispersion in an inert continuous phase oil. When added directly to an aqueous system, the hydrophilic polymer particles swell rapidly, resulting in rapid thickening due to the highly expanded structure. These are very efficient thickeners and can be added at any stage of the formulation process.

■Alkali swelling emulsionTexicryl – (ASE) These are dispersions of acid-functional acrylic polymers in water. When fed at low pH and the polymer chains are neutralized by addition of alkali, the polymer swells and becomes more viscous. ASE, which behaves similar to plastics, is marketed for a wide range of aqueous applications.

■Hydrophobically modified alkali swelling emulsionTexicryl – (HASE). Like standard ASE, these are dispersions of acid-functional acrylic polymers. In addition to these acid groups, HASE systems have long hydrophobic chains attached to the polymer backbone. As with ASE polymers, increasing system pH and interactions between hydrophobic substances promote thickening, and formulation ingredients influence rheological properties.

HASA thickeners can be designed to define the rheology of a formulated system, from pseudo-plastic to almost Newtonian, based on hydrophobic material and polymer design. From textile printing pastes to construction adhesives to flow modification of coating formulations, we offer solutions to a wide range of challenging applications.
