The standard shielded optical linear encoder L23 can measure up to 20m, with longer lengths available as an option. This encoder converts the movement (displacement) of the main part of the machine into an electrical signal, and outputs information on position (displacement) and direction of movement. The encoder works by measuring and processing the light beam from the scale. The structure consists of a metal band with a lattice-scaled surface fixed in an aluminum housing, and the lower part of the movement is protected by two lip seals. The encoder is modular and can be made longer by connecting modules up to 3.0m in length. It has a measuring head built into it. The standard encoder outputs 3 square waves TTL. The main output signals are 90° out of phase. The other square wave outputs the origin signal.
