The outer diameter of the work shaft is inspected using a passing side gauge and a non-stop side gauge to ensure accuracy. Generally, gauges are made of SKS (alloy tool steel), but from the viewpoint of wear resistance, there are also carbide ring gauges and carbide pincer gauges that use carbide in the gauge part.
