■What is a temperature stratification type heat storage tank? Thermal stratification type heat storage tank is a heat storage method that utilizes the density difference of water depending on temperature. The graph in Figure 1 shows the temperature and density of water. The horizontal axis shows temperature and the vertical axis shows density. This shows that the density decreases as the temperature rises or falls, with a maximum temperature of 4°C. ■Highly efficient heat storage tank Figure 2 shows the concept of a temperature stratified heat storage tank. A low-temperature zone is formed at the bottom, a high-temperature zone is formed at the top, and a mixing zone where low-temperature water and high-temperature water are mixed is created at the boundary. This is the cause of the decrease in heat storage efficiency. Reducing this mixing area is a requirement for a highly efficient temperature stratification type heat storage tank. High efficiency techniques with fewer mixing zones are shown below. ・Expansion of temperature difference (density difference) in heat storage tanks ・Prevention of natural convection due to uneven temperature ・Preventing agitation due to flow rate
