The top surface of the square washer is tapered (a tapered shape). Also called taper washer or inclined washer. The 5° taper washer is used for channel steel (heavy channel steel one channel), which is a U-shaped steel material widely used in machinery and construction. Since the upper and lower flaps (when pressed) have a 5° taper angle, by using a 5° taper washer, you can keep the contact surface with the nut (bolt) flat and tighten securely.
