It is a flat, circular part that is inserted between the material to be fastened and the bolt or nut when fastening. By sandwiching the washer, the friction coefficient of the bolt (nut) is kept constant and the fastening is stabilized. In addition, since it contacts the mating material over a larger area than the bearing surface of the bolt or nut, surface pressure is reduced, preventing deformation of the material during fastening. Fastening with higher torque increases the axial force, making it more resistant to loosening caused by external forces. Furthermore, even after tightening, the contact surfaces of the parts are less likely to deform or cave in, which prevents the screws from loosening due to loss of axial force. It is also used to prevent damage caused by rotation of bolts and nuts during fastening, and to enable fastening even in long holes and large bolt holes. We also have high-strength products, products for wood, products compatible with high axial force, and resin products for insulation purposes. The old JIS standard (JIS B 1256:1963) is still the mainstream, and JIS flat washers and round flat washers generally refer to old JIS standard products, but there is a trend towards ISO standard products.
