A Paramotor refers to an apparatus that combines a paraglider with an engine unit consisting of an engine and a propeller. By wearing the engine unit on the harness part of the paraglider, it gains propulsive force, enabling free flight in the air. Paramotors are also known by alternative names such as "Motor Paraglider" or "Powered Paraglider."
In a typical paraglider without an engine, one must climb to the top of a mountain or hill and launch by sliding down a slope. However, thanks to the engine unit, Paramotors can easily take off from relatively open flat areas or riverbanks, and they have the distinct feature of being able to ascend freely. This not only saves time climbing hills or mountains but also allows for experiences in various locations such as snowy plains or coastlines.
Paramotors are utilized for flying more easily and freely than conventional paragliders without engines, thanks to the engine unit.
There are two ways to ride a Paramotor: tandem and solo. In tandem flights, known as Tandem Flight, a guide pilot accompanies the passenger. For beginners or those with limited experience, starting with tandem flights is the basic approach, offering an easy way to enjoy Paramotoring without requiring advanced skills. When flying solo, a license is required. To obtain the license, individuals need to attend a Paramotor school to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. This flexibility in flying options, coupled with the ability to glide using only the wind by shutting off the engine in mid-air, provides various ways to enjoy the experience.
