It is an ester compound with Cethyl alcohol (hexadecanol), which is an alcohol with 16 carbon numbers, and is a white row -shaped body. It is useful as an emoliant (skin softening) agent with excellent lubricity and flexibility to the skin, giving a good feeling against skin and hair.

The melting point is close to the body temperature, giving the skin and hair a silk feel and luster, so it is also used for shampoo, lipstick, and various creams.
