About This Product
■What is Color Bit?
Colorbit is an automatic recognition code independently developed by Beecore. The order of colors is converted into an ID by image processing.
This technology can be used in situations where it would be difficult to apply 2D codes such as barcodes and QR codes, or technologies using radio waves such as RFID and beacons.
■Three features of “Color Bit Matching App”
① Attach the paired color bit stickers to the hose and fitting. You can "visualize" and check whether the piping is installed correctly using a smartphone app.
② Multiple sets of hoses and fittings can be read at once, making work more efficient than working with one set at a time.
It can be read even if the sticker has some scratches or is used on a curved part.
③ Logs of hose and joint connection confirmation work can be saved as images, and a function has also been implemented to send them externally along with the work time and information of the person in charge of the work.
This allows for accurate records of who and when to confirm the connection to be saved.
■Operation test
The first POC (trial operation) began in December 2019 at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.'s Iwaki Plant. There were three main issues identified during the test.
(1) Optimization of stickers attached to hoses and joints
It was difficult to attach color bits to standard label materials due to the adhesive material and dirt caused by oil.
Optimization was achieved by selecting the base material for the label, adjusting the adhesive strength, and devising the shape.
(2) Selecting a smartphone model
Initially, the color bit matching app was prototyped on an Android device due to its ease of development.
We prepared several Android devices and selected the best one, but there were large differences in camera performance between the models.
It was not possible to select a model that could meet the end user's requirement of ``reliably performing multiple piping checks in situations where fittings and hoses are crowded together''.
Therefore, by selecting the latest model of iPhone with stable camera performance and porting the application from Android to iOS.
We were able to meet the end user's requirements.
