About This Product
An optical encoder has a movable slit and a fixed slit between a light emitting element and a light receiving element.By moving the movable slit, the strength of the light is created.The light receiving element converts it into the strength of an electrical signal, and the waveform is shaped by an electronic circuit. This is an optical sensor that outputs a rectangular wave pulse corresponding to the amount of slit movement or an approximate sine wave cycle signal.
This allows rotary encoders to control axis rotation and linear encoders to control object movement. Depending on the optical arrangement used, there are two types of encoders: transmissive encoders, in which a light-emitting element and light-receiving element are placed facing each other, as shown below, and reflective encoders, in which the light-emitting element and light-receiving element are placed on the same plane, and the light reflected by a slit is detected. can. A particular feature of reflective encoders is that their structure can be made very compact.
