■Challenges
High-quality hydraulic supply units are required to supply hydraulic fluid to servohydraulic linear and rotary actuators, test machines and test systems. The use of servovalve requires maintenance to ensure the high purity of the hydraulic fluid and ensure a long service life of the valve. In servohydraulic systems, due to the high pressures and fluid velocities, even the smallest dirt particles can wear out the control parts of the servovalve.
Hydraulic units operate continuously day and night, so maintenance and ease of use are important considerations. Additionally, hydraulic units must now comply with strict standards in terms of laboratory safety, energy consumption, and environmental compatibility.
■Instron solutions
Instron's hydraulic power supply units (HPUs) are designed based on years of experience in high pressure hydraulics. Instron offers six types of hydraulic units with nominal flow rates from 26 l/min. to 365 l/min. at an operating pressure of 280 bar (other operating pressures, e.g. 210 bar, are also possible). Hydraulic units can be combined together to achieve higher flow rates and share a large hydraulic fluid tank. Each motor and pump can be turned on and off independently for economical operation.
The class A efficient motor enables the highest energy efficiency when combined with a variety of pumps, and the standard operating pressure of 280 bar provides an additional efficiency increase compared to 210 bar systems.
