Smart power switches offer easier control with enhanced diagnostics and protection, higher reliability, and lower costs than discrete solutions. Smart, or intelligent power switches (IPDs) consist of power stages and control technology that provide advanced features such as protection against damage from high temperatures, overcurrents, and overvoltages. The Smart Power Switch T power switch control circuit also allows diagnostics to indicate the operating status of the smart power switch to the system.
Infineon's range of protected MOSFET power switches includes both smart low-side (ground switching) and high-side switches (power switching). Our PROFET™ portfolio of smart high-side protection MOSFET power switches are automotive standard compliant and suitable for almost all automotive applications and many industrial applications.
These high-efficiency power distribution switch ICs provide excellent protection against short circuits, overcurrent, and overtemperature while driving capacitive, inductive, and resistive loads.
