■Product overview
The SS490 series is a versatile, compact linear Hall effect device that operates with the magnetic field of a permanent magnet or electromagnet. The ratiometric output voltage is set by the supply voltage and varies proportionally to the magnetic field strength.
Integrated circuit chips have increased temperature stability and sensitivity. Laser-trimmed thin film resistors offer high accuracy (sensitivity from null to ±% up to ±3%) and temperature compensation. They respond to either positive or negative magnets and monitor either or both magnetic poles.
Quad-hole sensing element reduces the effects of mechanical and thermal stress on the output. The positive temperature coefficient of sensitivity (+0.02%/°C typical) compensates for the negative temperature coefficient of lower cost magnets and provides a robust design over a wide temperature range. Rail-to-rail (full voltage range) provides a more accurate and more usable signal.
These products have an operating temperature range of -40°C to +150°C [-40°F to 302°F], making them suitable for industrial and automotive environments.
SS490B version provides a cost-effective detection solution. It features wider temperature drift and wider zero and sensitivity tolerances than the SS490A high-performance products. Both SS490A and SS490B accept standard continuous sink or source outputs of 1.5 mA and use a supply current of 7 mA at 5.0 V at 25°C [77°F] with predictable performance over temperature.
