Tingley Rubber Corp., established in 1896, based in Rahway, New Jersey, is a manufacturer of waterproof footwear and raingear, as well as high-visibility workwear
The materials used in the products include natural rubber, PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). Additionally, steel is used in selected products for toe safety and slip resistant ice traction. In 1896, the company was a start-up for selling bicycle tire plugs. In 1910, it expanded to design, develop, and commercialize the first compression-molded stretchable unlined rubber overshoes. The company was the first to develop rubber overshoes that resist caustics, hydrocarbons, fats, acids, and oils.
