■High cycle fatigue test of multiple test pieces
The ElectroPuls® 16-station testing system is capable of performing high-cycle fatigue testing on multiple specimens simultaneously. Each station is equipped with a load cell for fatigue testing. The system uses a turntable with a highly rigid and lightweight design, allowing testing at higher frequencies and reducing test time. The test can be performed in a transparent polycarbonate saltwater bath at temperatures up to 37°C. The test control software can capture the bath temperature, and the bath temperature is recorded along with the test data. The entire turntable jig can be lowered and raised into the solution bath using the crosshead lifting mechanism, making it easy to check the specimen.
■16 stations operate synchronously
It now has 16 stations, increasing capacity by 33% from the original design 10 years ago. When testing at high frequencies, data can be erroneous due to inertial effects due to the jig mass. Our new fixtures are made from lightweight titanium instead of stainless steel and have an optimized design for weight reduction. The hollow pushrod and tapered lower disc further reduce fixture weight while maintaining rigidity, allowing testing at higher frequencies. Made of titanium, it is especially safe when testing with saline solutions.
■Easy to adjust
Instron worked with customers to improve the ergonomics of new fixture designs.
・Using an in-line button-type load cell, the test piece can be adjusted accurately near the test jig.
・Unlike beam type load cells, there is no misalignment on the XY axes when adjusting each station or preloading.
- Each station can be adjusted and fixed within a range of ±5mm using a single hex wrench screw.
- Accurately and easily achieves uniform preload of all 16 stations.
