The surface of these diffusers is replicated onto polycarbonate from a holographic master. They have surfaces with completely random and aperiodic structures that can be considered as randomized microlenslets. They diverge light up to the specified cone angle of the filter.
The random size and orientation of the structures eliminates both wavelength-dependent effects and Moiré interference effects. They work with both polychromatic and monochromatic light, either coherent or incoherent. Works best with collimated lights, but non-collimated lights also work fine, but emit slightly wider than the nominal angle.
■Smoothly homogenize the light source
Hot spots and uneven light distribution are common problems with most light sources, including filament lamps, arc lamps, LEDs, cold cathode fluorescent lamps, fiber optics, and lasers. Light Shaping Diffusers® smooth and homogenize these light sources while providing uniform light in critical applications.
The energy distribution from these diffusers closely approximates a flat-top distribution over the specified angular range. Diffusers are available with both circular and oval beam patterns. The large angle diffuser produces the highest degree of homogenization.
■Precisely shape, control, and distribute light
Light shaping diffusers precisely shape, control, and distribute light into specific cone angles. This cone angle can be either symmetrical (circular) or asymmetrical (elliptical). Standard circular angles range from 0.5° to 80° FWHM, while standard elliptical angles range from 0.2° x 10° to 35° x 95°.
The transmission efficiency is better than other diffusers from 365 to 1,600nm. The diffuser's surface is anti-reflective in nature, making use of light that would otherwise be wasted due to Fresnel losses. LED lights are displayed before and after circular and oval diffusers.
