About This Product
Newport's high-energy Nd:YAG laser 50/50 beam splitters are manufactured using high-purity synthetic quartz substrates and ultra-hard dielectric coatings. These beam splitters are tested and certified to withstand high-energy pulses and have high damage thresholds.

■Wedge suppresses unnecessary fringes
Optical systems with perfectly parallel surfaces are not suitable for use as reference elements in laser setups because the reflections from both surfaces will be collinear, resulting in large periodic fringes. The introduction of a slight wedge deflects unwanted reflections from the second surface out of the optical path. The back side (S2) of these beam samplers is slightly wedge-shaped, and the arrow on the side points to the non-wedge-shaped side (S1).
■High damage threshold
High fluence Nd:YAG lasers can be safely used with these splitters. A durable multi-layer coating is used on both the front beam-splitting surface and the AR-coated back. This gives a typical damage threshold at 1,064 nm of 5 MW/cm2 CW and 5 J/cm2 for 0.1-100 ns pulses. Typical damage thresholds at 532nm are 2.5MW/cm2 CW and 2.5J/cm2 for 0.1-100 nanosecond pulses.
■Reflectance outside the design wavelength
Reflection and transmission at wavelengths other than those specified are uncontrolled and may differ significantly from the curves shown. We do not recommend using beamsplitters outside of the design wavelength.
