About This Product

Backed by over 40 years of TA Instruments' expertise in rotational rheology and linear DMA measurements, the Discovery hybrid rheometer's DMA mode brings a new dimension to testing solid and soft-solid materials. In addition to the most sensitive and accurate rotational shear measurements, DHR provides accurate linear dynamic rheology (DMA) data. Axial DMA complements solid-state torsion testing by providing a direct measurement of the elastic modulus (Young's modulus (E)). The new DMA mode is ideal for determining the transition temperature of materials and provides reliable measurements over the entire temperature range of the instrument. Axial DMA functionality is enabled with DHR's active force rebalance transducer (FRT) and patented magnetic bearing technology that enables highly controlled oscillatory deformation in the axial direction. During DMA measurements, the position of the active bearing is directly controlled to impart linear vibrational deformation to the sample. Instruments from other companies that utilize air bearings or passive normal force measurements have design limitations that require costly modifications to achieve similar measurements. Geometry can be installed in seconds with Smart SwapTM, making switching between rotational and linear tests a breeze. DMA functionality is compatible with ETC ovens and relative humidity accessories and is available in film tension, three-point bending, single and dual cantilevers, and compression.
