About This Product

Orthogonal Superposition (OSP) provides simultaneous direct measurement of dynamic viscoelasticity under shear flow for complete characterization of materials in any process. This new dimension in rheological testing bridges the gap between vibration and flow, allowing materials to behave viscoelastically under the same shear conditions experienced during critical processes such as mixing, extruding, dispensing, pouring, pumping, and spreading. Measure. The rheology of complex fluids (emulsions, suspensions, gels, pastes, etc.) is traditionally evaluated using either dynamic viscoelastic measurements or steady flow. Steady flow measures non-Newtonian viscosity over a wide range of shear rates or stresses to assess ease and resistance to flow during processing, dispensing, and end use. Dynamic viscoelastic measurements provide richer information characterizing the rest-state viscoelastic response that is directly attributable to the internal microstructure of the material. Through the use of OSP, G', G'', and tanδ are directly quantified under approximate conditions such as are relevant for performance in any field. For measurements of dynamic viscoelasticity of flow fields, the shear Changes in the microstructure inside the material caused by this can be observed, and physical property values at important stages in practical use can be obtained. OSP also provides 2D-SAOS (small amplitude oscillatory shear in rotational and axial modes) to characterize anisotropic or particle orientation under shear. These test capabilities provide new insights into structure-performance relationships and provide the missing piece when characterizing complex rheological behavior. ■Special features Direct measurement of G’, G”, and tanδ under shear with precisely controlled axial vibrations from DHR’s patented magnetic bearings. ・Measure shear-sensitive microstructural changes in complex fluids with the highly accurate load sensitivity of the SmartSwapTMOSP load cell Specially designed OSP geometry ensures data accuracy for both rotational and axial measurements, avoiding pumping and surface tension effects Optional temperature control with environmental test chamber (-10°C to 150°C) monitors temperature-dependent changes and reproduces actual processing conditions Easily program OSP and 2D-SAOS measurements and quickly analyze data using the superior TRIOS software
