About This Product
If an isolation transformer is used at the power receiving end of a private consumer, a ground fault relay is installed to detect ground faults in the load circuit. If the ground capacitance on the power supply side is smaller than the zero-phase current transformer, the ground fault current will not reach the operating sensitivity of the ground fault relay, making ground fault detection difficult. In order to operate the ground fault relay reliably, it is necessary to connect a ground compensation capacitor to the power supply side of the zero-phase current transformer to create a return circuit for the ground fault current.
In low-voltage distribution lines, an ungrounded power distribution system is sometimes adopted, but in this case, as with high-voltage distribution lines, the ground capacitance on the power supply side is insufficient compared to the zero-phase current transformer, making it difficult to detect leakage. Therefore, a grounding compensation capacitor is required in such cases. Furthermore, the low voltage grounding compensation capacitor is a harmonic countermeasure product.
