The 1700 system is designed to monitor large motors (350 HP and above). The system uses RTDs (see thermocouple models 1705 and 1706) to monitor up to six customer-configured temperature points and provides alarm outputs for overtemperature conditions. The system can be configured to shut down the motor using the alarm output.
The Model1700 system scans multiple resistance temperature devices (RTDs) mounted within the rotor windings or starter bar, providing data on small changes in motor thermal conditions. Winding temperature monitoring is the key to smooth operation. Overheating is a clear signal of an impending problem. This system monitors up to six RTD type temperature sensors and displays the temperature on an alphanumeric display. Can display channels with any temperature above a programmable alarm set point. The alarm function has a relay output. The non-contact transmission method means there is a fault-free path from rotor to ground.
