The CTP5000 standard thermometer has a full range platinum resistance thermometer that can be used for everything from reference calibration to on-site temperature measurement. If the off-the-shelf range does not meet your requirements, thermometers can in most cases be customized. When calibrating with platinum resistance thermometers, WIKA also allows you to customize the standard resistance temperature range.
By using a high precision thermometer and calibration probe, calibration data can be stored in the instrument memory. Additionally, when using the ASL SMART probe for convenience, calibration data is stored in an electronic memory chip located inside the resistance thermometer connector. Therefore, moving SMART probes between channels or instruments is easy because the calibration data is stored within the SMART probe connector. It is not necessary to input calibration data to the instrument channel of the calibration data in use.
During calibration, the test item and reference standard thermometer are brought to the same temperature in a temperature control unit. As soon as a stable temperature is reached, the test item is read or its output signal is measured (resistance, thermal voltage, standard signal) and compared with a reference thermometer. By using this comparison method, in addition to taking into account the temperature control unit's indicators, the measurement uncertainty is greatly reduced.
