Stefan Mayer Instruments (SMI) is a German manufacturer of magnetometers and related products that was established in Dinslaken, North Rhine-Westphalia in 1998. The company primarily produces magnetic field canceling systems for transmission electron microscopy (TEM), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), as well as magnetic field sensors and fluxgate magnetometers rated for a range of DC to 1 kHz. It also offers magnetic permeability meters for weakly magnetic materials, such as titanium, steel, and nickel alloys. SMI products are used mainly by clients in Germany’s research and material science institutions, which include Siemens Healthineers and BASF.
