Merkle-Korff Industries (MKI) is an American manufacturer of electric motors that was originally established in 1911 as the Modern Tool & Stamping Company before rebranding in 1978 and becoming a subsidiary of the Japanese company Nidec in 2012. Based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, the company produces permanent magnet DC (PMDC) brushed motors and right angle gear motors, PMDC and AC parallel shaft gearmotors, and brushless DC programmable motors. These are used in a wide variety of industrial functions, including in pumps, door automation, and refrigeration. MKI also offers contract manufacturing services to its clients in the automation, renewable energy, and marine industries.
