■Description

PA99 is an operational amplifier that supports ultra-high voltage of 2,500V and output current of up to 50mA. Intended for high voltage applications such as piezoelectric positioning, instrumentation, semiconductor manufacturing test, and electrostatic deflection. The output voltage can swing up to 2,400VP-P. The input circuit uses a cascode system to achieve high accuracy. In addition, the external correction function allows you to freely set the slew rate and bandwidth. Resistor-programmable current limit provides system-level protection.

■Overvoltage protection

The PA99 can withstand differential input voltages up to ±20V, but additional external protection is recommended. For most applications, a 1N4148 signal diode connected anti-parallel to the input pin is sufficient. More demanding applications where bias current is important will require a JFET such as the 2N4416. In either case, the differential input voltage is clamped to ±0.7V. This is usually enough overdrive to get maximum power bandwidth.

■Current limit

PA99 allows independent setting of positive and negative current limits.

■Temperature detection

The temperature sensing pin of PA99 is connected to a 1N4448 type diode and can be used to sense the temperature inside the device. This diode can be used to sense the temperature inside the device. A typical application uses a current source as the best means to excite the diode.
